- EG has for several years been part of the UN Global Compact, where we commit
ourselves to working with good corporate governance based on 10 global
principles of social responsibility. Right now, I see it as more important than
ever that companies like EG take a co-responsibility for pushing society and
climate efforts in the right direction. As a company, we cannot solve all the
problems in the world, but we can make an effort where we are. That is why we
have introduced the EG Volunteer Program, which means that workers, that is both
employees and contractor can spend a paid working day on volunteer work every
year, says EG's CEO, Mikkel Bardram.
Workers can decide for themselves where they want to put their efforts, as long
as it is voluntary, unpaid work that supports the UN's world goals and
initiatives with a focus on social, environmental or health.
- The only requirement is that they get their project approved and that they
share their experiences. Because I believe that voluntary involvement is
contagious, whether it is about standing one day in a thrift store, clearing the
local beach of plastic, or arranging an exercise run in the neighborhood. The
hope is that with EG Volunteer Program we can inspire each other and others, so
that together we can make a greater effort for and with each other, says Mikkel
Bardram.
The voluntary scheme is part of EG's CSR strategy and supports, among other
things, the group's support for UN World Goal # 17 - Partnership for Action.
